Welcome to the Crop Variety Testing Program at Montana State University's Central Agricultural Research Center (CARC) near Moccasin. Our core mission, like the other RCs in the state, is to provide unbiased, high-quality agronomic performance data to Montana producers.

We test both winter and spring types to provide a complete performance picture of the major crops and varieties important to Montana farmers.  Open icons indicate crops that are not currently being evaluated by the CARC variety testing program.

Our Current Scope

We evaluate a diverse portfolio covering 11 crop species across three major crop types: cereals (wheat, barley, durum), oilseeds (spring canola), and pulses (peas, lentils, chickpeas).
