Orchard notes and map
Site visit notes, 5/10/2019:
- Trees were initially planted in May of 2013 and more in May 2014. No rootstock information is available.
- Landowner said that the trees have struggled since the first planting date. The trees were planted late in the season and most of the originals died and were replaced.
- Herbicide drift killed most trees on east facing rows.
- Wind, deer, and hailstorms keep trees from producing.
- Of the original plantings, the remaining trees are two ‘Prairie Magic’ apples, two ‘Arkansas Black’ apples, three ‘Zestar!’ apples, one ‘Goodland’ apple, three ‘Toka’ plums, and two ‘Honeycrisp’ apples.
- No trees have yielded fruit as of 2018.
